The main reason that I want to work in digital marketing is due to studying Business Information Technology degree at The university of Salford,
I want to combine Business and Technology, which is why digital marketing is ideal, for example digital uses the technology and the marketing is more of the business aspect to the job.

Digital marketing has grown over the past few years, with the rise of social media such as FacebookTwitter, Trip Advisor and Email. Marketing has become more digital, this is because of the vast amount of people on Facebook and Twitter. It has become very easy to target customers and promote a brand, “As of the fourth quarter of 2014, the microblogging service averaged at 288 million monthly active users” (Statista) Facebook; “Facebook passes 1.23 billion monthly active users, 945 million mobile users, and 757 million daily users.” (Emil Protalinski).

Digital marketing is not just about using social media though, it’s about analysing your platforms and your environment, for example analysing the analytic s of your marketing platforms and creating a strategy. Digital Marketing is a new challenge everyday because it has to be fresh and innovative to get people interested in your campaign.

I also enjoy working with people from my 6 years of working in the retail industry (currently at Pagazzi Lighting), this has given me a lot of my people skills and taught me how to communicate with the public and understanding their needs. This could be implemented in to digital marketing, as primarily it is about communicating with potential and current customers and keeping them interested in your products and brand.
